I was trying to solve a sewer gas smell in our house (Eagle Bay, BC area) that had been going on for 4+ months. Several visits from local plumbing contractors failed to resolve anything...they just don't have any experience or knowledge of that type of problem. I spent thousands and got nowhere. Tore a lot of drywall off the wall to get at the pipes; bought my own gas sniffer; bought my own pipe camera; bought my own pressure washing line for the sewer drain pipe. The only thing we confirmed is that we had a leak in the underground pipes somewhere. Mark, the owner of Down Under Pipe Inspection, came in with all his diagnostic equipment and soon showed that the leak was in a section of pipe outside the house, and not near the 2 rooms that were experiencing the sewer gas smell. He had a $15 fix for the smell – a plug that would prevent the gas from coming back into the house from the septic tank. And in a subsequent visit, he installed a liner inside the sewer drain pipe to stop the leak. Mark is extremely efficient with his equipment, and was by far the most knowledgeable about septic systems and sewer gas. If you're having any sort of problem like mine, make him your first call. He's easy to work with, explains everything clearly. Our smell is 100% gone. Mark, thanks for a great job!
